I think this is the fixer-upper you’ve been waiting patiently for:

I have no affiliation with this listing. Looks like it’s just cosmetic issues.
So, how does a $1350 sale (or less?) factor into the average selling price of Flys?

Came and went before I got to look at it. Let’s hope it doesn’t show back up next week with a 12 spring installed.

That's more than a cosmetic issue.

@Musikron, you think the neck is doing something to cause the chipping in those locations? I’ve seen similar chipping around neck pocket in the past that ended up being just cosmetic, so I’m curious what about your thoughts.
I mean, the listing has ended now, and I didn’t buy it, but still would love to know

I almost grabbed it for parts VJ, but it scared me that something was wrong with the electronics. Do you know what the issue was he is describing?

My guess is that Musikron is referring to the paint near the neck pocket. The neck on the Flys (like all guitars) is capable of moving and that sometimes causes the paint to chip in that area—this is a common thing especially with the paint being used in Wilmington. I’ve seen lots and lots of people panic that their Fly neck is coming unglued or the truss rod is failing or something like that, but, in my experience, it’s always been the case that the paint is just chipping.

Sorry I should have been more specific, in the listing he mentioned that when he strums hard there is some distortion in the piezo. That in particular scared me off.

Ahh gotcha—yeah, that distortion can happen with the Fishman preamp, but I think that’s usually something related to the battery power; I’ll have to check my notes on that.

I don't know what the rate of failure is for the electronics in a fly but that's one thing I'd feel better if I had a spare of.

Wouldn’t worry about distortion, there’s a trim pot that someone probably messed with.
