Available at a “collector rate”. 😗

For those wondering, “what the heck is tulipwood”: The "Fly Tulipwood" was a variant of the Fly Deluxe and quite literally exactly the same as a Fly Deluxe with the notable exception that the poplar body wood was selected for having a unique color (less common for poplar). While building Fly Deluxes, Ken and his team simply put all of the “attractive looking“ pieces of poplar wood in a pile, and, eventually, then made a line of Fly Deluxes from these unique pieces of poplar. Accordingly, these Deluxes were painted with a transparent green finish as opposed to the usual Fly Deluxe treatment of painting the bodies with an opaque finish.

Agreed! I know it sounds the same as my Deluxe, but yeah: very unique look!

Time to unload that butternut if that’s an $8000 guitar. Don’t even do the math for fees and taxes.

Poplar isn’t winning any beauty contest in the "#1 - @10 Top” race mostly because of the delta between the greenish heartwood and the off-white, dirty cream almost color of the sapwood.

The size of the trees being harvested in our time makes it nearly unavoidable that boards meeting our width spec will contain both heart and sap wood, and nobody thinks this looks good.

The boards that we used for this project could be either all sap or all heart, we didn't care, just as long as it wasn't both.

That’s it, no flames really, although Poplar can have some nice features that aren’t color, like this:
