DF 835 just arrived

Post by Razoumihine »

It’s been a while i was looking for a DF8xx, and now i just can’t get tired looking at this beauty !
This is a 2010 dragonfly 835 custom white pearl that just arrived home yesterday. I didn't even know that this HSH configuration was possible. I feel like it’s a collector instrument. At first i was afraid the white would be not the color i like, but there is something spicy in this white that make it waoooohhh.
Someone here took very good care of it, thank you B. I will keep going.
I share here some pictures !

I think I know this instrument well.
It’s a fabulous guitar.
May you enjoy it for many years to come! And it’s great to know it’s made its way to France! Allez La France!!!

I'm unfamiliar with the DF835. Is it a 824 in HSH configuration?

Yes. I’ve been told the 3 would be for pup qty, and the 5 for the number of coils. But maybe it’s not correct. Any way yes it’s a DF824 with HSH configuration.

The Custom Shop called it an 825.

I sometimes get the sense that USM was just making these model numbers up as they went along. Nef's Toxic/Virtuoso/DF845 was also referred to as a 825 by the company (Pat and Nef are, of course, the original owners we can trust to know for certain):

Well, these were not production models and were custom orders. So they could call them what they wanted! Not 100% sure what the rationale was at the time. I knew but I forget. Old age strikes again!

Congrats again- it is a great guitar! It was time for me to let it go since I didn’t play it that much the last few years.

Sorry for any confusion about model numbers. I remember hearing during my factory visit about number of coils and pickups but it didn’t always match up with the catalogs. Possibly I misunderstood and/or they just made it up as they went along.

Anyway, I remember how much I loved seeing the new DF series being launched and the posts with pictures of these custom builds. It was really exciting! So bummed that forum info was lost, and that I wasn’t part of the first tour despite living nearby at that time.
