Help ID this NiteFly

I'm in the market for a Nitefly, I was hoping for a NiteFly SA, but someone offered me a modified NiteFly for a good price, so I'm thinking about accepting it. From the pics, can any tell which model of NiteFly it is?

The dogbone saddles suggest that it’s a model between 1997 and 2007 according to our saddle thread. The battery compartment suggests that it’s likely not an NFVM 1 or 2 according to our NiteFly history thread. Serial seems like 1997 according to our serial thread.

Serial number of 117306, would put it in the November 1997 range? Or is it 2007?

You’re right that there seem to be some inconsistencies in 2006 and 2007 where most Flys and NiteFlys have a P designation while some don’t. Still, I think this is a ‘97.

OK, that means it probably started as an NFV4, before the pickup swap. Any feedback on this version? My ultimate goal is to get 2 Niteflys, one must be a stock SA, and the other I want to play around with different pickup combinations.

I have one from that same year and I like it a lot. The maple body is a little on the heavy side compared to Flys, of course, and you’d shave off a little weight with a swamp ash NiteFly, but they’re great instruments. If this one has a functional truss, no fret issues, and is priced in a range you like then it sounds like a win!

As an alternative to owning two, you might consider getting a second pickguard with the original DiMarzio pickups and a Fishman Powerchip, or asking a forum member here if they have those parts to sell.
