Re: New User- Looking for solutions
Update... After some consultation and help from Bengemin at Strange Guitarworks again... the virbrato arm now swings as it should. He ended up having to remove the arm and reset it. It was slightly brushing against the body when it rotated and honestly ... it hadn't been used in years so I'm sure th...

Re: New User- Looking for solutions
I posted in another thread that I made a "DIY" virbrato bar and it came out looking great. However... it is a way too tight fit and I suspect the bending of the hex bar has the straight lines of the shaft binding to the very slightly bent shaft on my DIY bar making it hard to put in andd t...

Re: Pre Refined Fly Whammy Bar
So I did the DIY thing. I got the exact model in the "anatomy of the fly PDF" from the link to Amazon. I decided to do the bends to mirror the original Floyd Rose so it's a little shorter. I'm amazed at how close I got and how good it looks. However, I do find that it is extremely hard to ...

Re: Pre Refined Fly Whammy Bar
I have tried to reach out to Tim Wayne several times on Ebay but have not had any responses. I'm guessing he is not doing them anymore. Are there any other sources for the pre refined trem arms?

Re: New User- Looking for solutions
@ vjmanzo Got the sharpie idea from you :) It's hard plastic white through and through so you cannot "remove" the stripe with paint remover unfortunately. Paint may work better than a sharpie but I am still deciding on whether to go this way or just get different matching knobs. I like it ...

Re: New User- Looking for solutions
For those looking for the origional style knobs... the ones in "anatomy of the fly" do look identical but have a white stripe indicator that the origional knobs did not as I mentioned above. I ordered them and they came in today. However, I do want to point out... the shat is not the quart...

Re: New User- Looking for solutions
Thanks.... Still lost a lot but all but only one guitar(an old cheap acoustic that was replaced by a Taylor (at a much higher $$ of course)... so I guess its a gain in the long run)... Pa and amps and recording equipment were gonners. To me... the guitars are the backbone anyway so that's good. That...

Re: New User- Looking for solutions
Well after a long journey... Everything seems to be working as it should!!! We ended up going with the Fishman Power Chip with a point to point wiring. Special thanks to all that have helped... especially vjmanzo and mmmguitar for contributing to this post. Thanks to Bengamin Strange my tech at Stra...

Re: New User- Looking for solutions
Getting close to complete. Testing Electronics today!
I need to add a knob in the place of the stacked knob. I saw the link in "anatomy of the fly" to one that looks exact but has a white stripe down it middle. My originals are all black. Does anyone have a source for the all black knobs?

Re: New User- Looking for solutions
Good deal... Kind of thought there was some stuff in the square output jack that was needed to work the Powerchip switching. (sorry in advance if that sounds dumb). There are no electronics in this barrel switch right? If this works... then shouldn't the jack that is allready in the fly work? Is the...

Re: New User- Looking for solutions
So I got the parts in and delivered them to the Luthier who I am working with along with the Point to Point Diagram. I told him that we need to use the output jack that came with the PowerChip because of the smart switching. He was showing me (and I think he is correct) that the square output jack t...

Re: New User- Looking for solutions
Thanks for the input guys! Ordering today... going with fishman. For those of you who have does this before ... do you use Fishman PRO-PCH-002 (long shaft) or Fishman PRO-PCH-001(short shaft). The guy at Fishman was saying that the Fishman PRO-PCH-001 was the way to go but I remember reading here (I...

Re: New User- Looking for solutions
I know my questions seem redundant... I just don't want to order the wrong stuff. If I want to stay as close to original as possible... and I'm going with the Fishman power-chip... do I want to go active or passive. To be frank... I'm not sure what the difference is... I believe the original was act...

Re: New User- Looking for solutions
Very nice! Part of me feels like I'm going rogue... making a Fly parts-caster. Not that anything is wrong with that. Some of my best guitars are parts-casters... and end up being EXACTLY what I envision and what I want. However... I guess there is no choice anyway... the original parts aren't availa...

Re: New User- Looking for solutions
Awesome info. No real desire for midi so that's not a factor for me. I use it for effects switching but that's about it. Maybe I don't know what I'm missing but sometimes that's best :) Since you loose the master volume... did you move the magnetic pots up to git them closer to the playing surface. ...

Re: New User- Looking for solutions
Great info... So looking at the diagram for wiring the Fishman powerchip... it looks like: 1. You loose the master volume. To me that's not a big deal and can be adjusted at the amp. Do you just put a dummy knob/pot where the old one was so you don't have a hole? Anyone try a killswitch here utilizi...

Re: New User- Looking for solutions
Thanks vjmanzo! Retesting the piezo / magnetic switch just to make sure before we pull the plug on the old preamp. My hope was to keep all parts original... but... if they no longer make that preamp... a working one is better than a broken one right! Also still testing the piezos to make sure that t...
